Slough's post-war housing inventory
Slough is dominated by inter-war and post-war semi-detached housing. The Cippenham, Langley, Chalvey, Wexham, Britwell and Upton estates make up the bulk of Slough's housing and almost all carry concrete interlocking or plain tile roofs from between 1935 and 1965. Many of these roofs are now 60+ years old and showing classic nail-fatigue, ridge crumbling and underfelt failure.
Larger detached and semi-detached stock in Langley, Wexham and Stoke Poges has a higher proportion of newer concrete tile and some natural slate, with the older Edwardian fringe of central Slough adding clay plain tile to the mix.
