Twyford's housing mix
Twyford is a small but substantial town whose housing falls into two main eras. The original village core and the post-war 1950s and 1960s expansion around Loddon Park and Stanlake have standard concrete plain or interlocking tile semis and detached houses. The expensive newer Charvil and Ruscombe stock from the 1990s onwards has larger detached homes with complex roof lines, big tile sweeps, multiple gables and frequently integrated dormers.
Twyford's proximity to Crossrail at the station has driven a wave of extensions and loft conversions in the last decade, which means a higher-than-average concentration of flat-roof and dormer work for a town of its size.
