Woodley's housing is more varied than its neighbouring Earley. The town has substantial 1950s and 1960s estate housing through the original Woodley development, large 1970s–90s extensions across the Bulmershe and Sonning border, and pockets of older Sonning village stock with handmade clay tile and natural slate that requires sympathetic conservation handling.
